School closure update (Estuary Academy Island, Isle of Sheppey) – Monday 12th January
School closure update – Monday 12th January
Having fixed part of the system earlier, an engineer has just informed me (whilst doing his final checks) that there is now another leak in a different area of our system, which means we still have no hot water or heating.
These leaks have been caused by pipes bursting due to weather conditions.
As it is 8pm on a Friday night, there is no possibility for the part to be sourced until Monday.
This means the repair will not happen until then and the school will have to be closed on Monday 12th January.
I am so sorry that this has happened and feel extremely frustrated at the situation for our young people.
I feel truly devastated to have to close for another day and am so sorry for any uncertainty this has caused you or our young people.
Staff will be calling home on Monday morning to do a welfare check, and children will be sent additional work.
We will also have a space set up for children to come and collect printed work from 10.00am if they need to do so.
An additional voucher will be sent to you on Monday morning to support access to meals.
If you have any concerns or need help with anything else, please inform the staff member who calls you on Monday morning or contact me directly.
With sincere apologies and gratitude for your understanding,
Danielle Thurlow
